Mitzi Friedlander
American Printing House for
the Blind Mitzi
Friedlander has been narrating Talking Books from the studios of
the American Printing House for the Blind (APH) in Louisville KY
for more than forty years. In 1993, a nationwide audience
selected Ms. Friedlander as one of their favorite talking Book
narrators, honoring her with the Alexander Scourby Award for
excellence in the narration of nonfiction. She has narrated more
than 1500 titles from classics such as Charlotte's Web and Gone
with the Wind, to the bestselling alphabet murders by Sue
Grafton and the Winslow Series by Gilbert Morris. In May 1997,
she was honored at an APH ceremony for being the first in the
nation to record 1000 titles for the National Library Service
for the Blind and Physically Handicapped (NLS). The 1000th title
was Beyond the Double Night: The Biography of James Morrison
Heady. Heady was a deaf-blind Kentuckian who achieved fame
as a writer, inventor, and poet.
Ms. Friedlander earned a Masters degree in Theater Arts from the
University of Louisville. She is an outstanding member of the
Louisville theater community, has appeared with Actors Theater,
the Louisville Opera Association, and the Louisville Children's
Theater. |
