Mitzi Friedlander
American Printing House for the Blind

Mitzi Friedlander has been narrating Talking Books from the studios of the American Printing House for the Blind (APH) in Louisville KY for more than forty years. In 1993, a nationwide audience selected Ms. Friedlander as one of their favorite talking Book narrators, honoring her with the Alexander Scourby Award for excellence in the narration of nonfiction. She has narrated more than 1500 titles from classics such as Charlotte's Web and Gone with the Wind, to the bestselling alphabet murders by Sue Grafton and the Winslow Series by Gilbert Morris. In May 1997, she was honored at an APH ceremony for being the first in the nation to record 1000 titles for the National Library Service for the Blind and Physically Handicapped (NLS). The 1000th title was Beyond the Double Night: The Biography of James Morrison Heady. Heady was a deaf-blind Kentuckian who achieved fame as a writer, inventor, and poet.

Ms. Friedlander earned a Masters degree in Theater Arts from the University of Louisville. She is an outstanding member of the Louisville theater community, has appeared with Actors Theater, the Louisville Opera Association, and the Louisville Children's Theater.
